BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Rice junior thrower Julie Perez led a small contingent of Owls on day one of the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational on Friday, placing second overall in the discus. The Boerne, Texas native set a season-best mark with a throw of 50.03m (164-1.00) on her sixth and final throw to highlight the performances of eight Owls.

In addition to Perez, Audrey Ho placed seventh in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.71m (12-2.00) to establish a personal best while Kayla Shelkey also set a personal best time of 19:01.49 to finish fourth in the 5000m.

The Owls will be back in action on Saturday starting at 3 p.m. with the hammer throw.
