Rice Golf Defeats Sam Houston in Dual Match

Montgomery, Texas — Rice shot a two-over par 290 to defeat Sam Houston by three strokes in a dual match at Walden at Lake Conroe Golf Club in a tune-up before next week's Bayou City Collegiate Classic.

Freshman Raghav Chugh tied for medalist honors with Sam Houston's Bret Gray, firing a two-under par 70. It was his third round of par or better in the last four rounds and his team-leading 12^th of the season.

Seniors Harrison Hineline and Jack Diamond tied for third-place, posting a 73. Senior Jake Benson carded a 74 to finish in sixth-place and redshirt freshman Blake Benson shot a 77 to tie for ninth-place.

Sophomore Rodrigo Martin and junior Thomas Bockholt III finished in 14^th and 15^th-place, respectively. Martin carded an 84 while Bockholt shot an 85.

NEXT UP

The Owls will close their regular season, Apr. 11-12, when it co-hosts the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Walden at Lake Conroe Golf Club in Conroe.
