Golf Closes Day One of Cabo Collegiate

Cabo, Mexico — The Rice golf team is in 14th-place with a score of 294 after the opening round of the Cabo Collegiate.
Senior Jake Benson led the Owls in a tie for 36th-place with an even par 71. It was his team leading sixth round of par or better and the 48th of his career, which ties Mario Carmona (2014-18) for the second-most in school history since 1991.
Senior Harrison Hineline carded a two-over 73 to sit in a 52nd-place tie. Sophomore Rodrigo Martin and freshman Raghav Chugh are tied for 62nd-place after posting a four-over 75 and junior Forrest Park shot an 81 to sit in 75th-place.
Oklahoma State leads the team competition at 13-under par, one stroke in front of Florida State. OSU's Brian Stark leads the individual competition at six-under par, one stroke in front of Arizona's Chase Sienkiewicz and Vanderbilt's Gordon Sargent.
