HOUSTON — For a record fourth consecutive week, Rice Soccer's Bella Killgore was named the Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced Monday morning.
It is Killgore's fifth honor of the year, tying North Texas' Jackie Kerestine (2015) for the most in a season. It is also her ninth career award, tying Kerestine and Saint Louis' Meghann Burke for the most in a career.
Killgore continued her strong play, making seven saves while recording a 0.50 goals against average and an .875 save percentage in leading Rice to a 1-0-1 record on the week. She opened the week by facing nine shots, making four saves in a 3-1 victory at Middle Tennessee. She followed that by making three saves in a defensive battle against UAB that ended in a 0-0 draw. With the seven saves, Killgore now has 86 saves on the year to lead the league and tie Amy Czyz (2012) for seventh-place Rice's single-season list.
Rice opens the Conference USA Tournament as the top seed on Wednesday, November 2, when it faces eighth seed and host Charlotte. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and it will be streamed on ESPN+.
