In Brief: Yasha Zemel and Trinity Grear wrapped undefeated runs in singles with straight-set wins as Rice closed the Fall Challenge by winning three of four to wrap up play at the 2022 Fall Challenge at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Sunday.
Details, Details: Zemel dispatched Avery Zaval from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 6-2, 6-and Grear closed out the Islanders' Lucas Schurdevin, 7-5, 6-0 to each finish 3-0 during the competition.
Head Coach Efe Ustundag: "Any time you can win 80% of your singles matches, that's a good weekend of work. Even with the weather on Friday, we were able to get all the matches in and got a lot of good competition. That was especially important for the younger guys on the team. They showed a lot of fight when challenged. I liked the way we came back each day ready to compete and it showed on the courts. This was a great way to wrap up the fall and set us up to start preparing for the dual season."

The Owls' next full team competition will be on January 14 when open a three-match road trip to Florida to take on South Florida, FAU and UCSB on consecutive days in Ft. Lauderdale. The 2023 home dual season opens with a match on January 27 vs. Elon.
