Owls Take Four of Five Singles on Day Two of Fall Challenge
10/28/2022 5:37:00 PM | Men's Tennis
Play resumes at 10 a.m. Saturday
In Brief: Kabeer Kapasi shook off a sluggish start after a change of venue to win in three sets and highlight action for Rice on the second day of the Fall Challenge in Houston.
The Details: Due to the impending rain storms on their way to Houston, the day's schedule was reversed in order to complete the 12 singles matches before the move indoors. All but one match was completed before the first showers arrived, but Kapasi and Blaine Hovenier of SMU were forced to continue their battle indoors at the Boniuk Family Tennis Center at the Jewish Community Center. Hovenier stormed to a 5-1 lead and had match points leading 5-2 and 5-3 but could not put Kapasi away as the freshman won six consecutive games to take the match.
