In Brief: Wes Barnett ground out a three-set win over Ethan Muza of Baylor to highlight the first day of action for Rice at the Lakes Invite at the Lakes Tennis Club in Frisco, Texas.
Rice faced Texas Tech in doubles and Oklahoma and Baylor in singles on the first day of competition. The Owls will be back in action at noon on Saturday by facing Oklahoma in doubles followed by four singles matches vs. SMU at 1 p.m.
Play wraps up on Sunday with Rice and SMU tangling in doubles at noon before the Owls and Texas Tech close out the weekend with four singles matches at 1 p.m.
