Tennis Opens Season at Lakes Invite

Four Owls head to Frisco
The Rice men's tennis team kicks off its fall campaign on Friday when four members of the team take part in the Lakes Invite at the Lakes Tennis Club in Frisco, Texas.
Wes Barnett , Trinity Grear, Dylan Heap and Campbell Salmon will represent Rice in action against players from Oklahoma, SMU and Texas Tech in a round robin format using dual match scoring and scheduling. Competition will open with an 8-game pro-set in doubles with tie-breaker at 7-all followed by two out of three no-ad sets in singles.
There is no team scoring, but an individual and doubles champion will be recognized at the end of competition based on points earned over the three days.
Players will earn points for wins in both singles and doubles, with players playing the first line of doubles earning three points and winners at the second doubles line earning two. Singles winners at the first line earn four points, while a win at the second line earns three, at the third line two and the four line one and a half points.
