Jake Benson Leads Owls on Final Day of Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

Choudrant, La. — Senior Jake Benson fired an even par 72 to lead the Rice Golf team during the final round of the season-opening Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
Benson finished seven-over par and tied for 58th-place. The 72 was the 43rd round of par or better of his career.
The Owls had their best round of the tournament, carding 294 to finish 32-over par and in 17th-place.
Junior Forrest Park carded his second straight 74 to lead the team in a tie for 49th-place at five-over par. Freshman Raghav Chugh and junior Thomas Bockholt III tied for 82nd-place at 10-over par. Chugh carded a 73 while Bockholt shot a 75.
Senior Jack Diamond posted a 76 to finish in 108th-place at 18-over par while redshirt freshman Blake Benson, tied for 109th-place at 19-over par after carding an 82.
LSU won the team competition at 23-under par, seven strokes in front of second-place UTSA. Louisiana Tech's Sam Murphy finished 13-under par to take home medalist honors, four strokes in front of Southern Miss's Hunter Atkins.
