United Soccer Coaches All-Region Honorees
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Rice's Haley Kostyshyn, Mijke Roelfsema and Delaney Schultz headlined a total of five Owls named to the 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches All-South Region teams, the organization announced.
South Region coaches spanning five different college conferences voted the Owl trio of Schultz (midfielder), Roelfsema (defender) and Kostyshyn (forward) to first team all-region honors. Rice's Mikala Furuto (second team MF) and Bella Killgore (third team GK) made for five Owls on the postseason honors list. There were nine other schools across the country (Arkansas, Florida State, Furman, Georgetown, High Point, North Florida, South Florida, TCU and UCLA) with five total honorees, but none with more than five.
Training under the direction of head coach Brian Lee the Owl honorees posted sensational individual seasons. The group helped Rice tie its school record for wins (14), win the Conference USA Championship and reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
