Jack Diamond Earns Seventh-Place Finish at Bayou City Collegiate Classic

HOUSTON — Junior Jack Diamond had the best tournament of his young career, earning his first career top ten finish with a tie for seventh-place at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, played at Westwood Golf Club.
Diamond closed the tournament with his second straight 69, tying a career-low. He also set career-bests for 54-hole score (211) and score to par (-5).
Senior Jake Benson tied for 16th-place at two-under par after carding a 74 to set a season-best 54-hole score of 214. His 16th-place finish is the 14th top 20 finish of his career. Junior Harrison Hineline closed with a 76 to finish at even par and tie for 27th-place.
Sophomore Thomas Bockholt III had his best round of the season, firing a 71 to finish in a tie for 48th-place at four-over par. It was his fifth career round of par or better.
Freshman Rodrigo Martin closed with a 73 to tie for 66th-place while senior Rishi Kejriwal tied for 75th-place after posting a 74.
Along with Diamond, two other Owls played as individuals. Junior Austin Escamilla carded a 77 to tie for 78th-place and sophomore Forrest Park tied for 89th-place after posting a 79.
Rice closed the day with a four-over 292 to finish nine-over par in ninth-place. Sam Houston State won the tournament at 29-under par, 12 strokes in front of Florida Atlantic.
Sam Houston State's Paul Chaplet set a tournament record by finishing 14-under par to take medalist honors, six strokes in front of teammate William Holcomb and Florida Atlantic's Sully Zagerman.

Rice will immediately travel to Bryan, Texas to close the regular season at the Aggie Invitational this Friday-Sunday, April 9-11.
