Breast Cancer Awareness Day
In Brief: The 38th ranked Rice women's tennis team (6-2) opens Conference USA play on Saturday when they host UTSA at 11 a.m. as part of a combined match with the Rice men's team. The Owls will be wearing pink during the game to support Breast Cancer Awareness.
Come on In: Matches at the George R. Brown Tennis Center are once again open to the public under the following guidelines.

UTSA: The Roadrunners are 4-5 this season after dropping a 7-0 decision on the road at second-ranked Texas on Thursday. Rice leads the series 20-0, including a 6-1 win last season at GRBTC. This is the third meeting between the schools at GRBTC.
Owls Notables:
Schedule Update: Rice saw a pair of matches postponed due the recent winter storms and both have been rescheduled. The Owls will combine with the Rice men's team to host UTA on March 25 at 1 p.m. and then travel to Austin on Sunday, March 27 to face Texas. The match vs. Sam Houston, originally scheduled for February 12 before it was cancelled due to COVID-19 issues within the Bearkats program has not yet been rescheduled.
Next Up: The Owls homestand continues next weekend when they host former C-USA rival Memphis on Saturday, March 13 at 11 a.m.

- The Owls snapped a pair of streaks in their wins over Wichita State and 25th ranked Arizona State last weekend. They came back from dropping the doubles point vs. the Shockers win for the first time since 2018 when losing the opening point. Their 5-2 win over the Sun Devils was their first win over a top 25 team since the defeated #15 Texas A&M in College Station in 2017.
- Rice has seen three members of the Owls win C-USA's Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week this season: Federica Trevisan (Jan. 10), Maria Budin (Feb. 10), Diae El Jardi (March 3).
- Trevisan (6-1) leads the Owls in dual singles wins and has won her last five matches.
- Michaela Haet picked up the Owls first singles win this year vs. a ranked opponent with her three-set win over Arizona State's Sammi Hampton (#115).
- Budin and El Jardi are 2-1 vs. ranked doubles opponents, facing off against ranked foes in each of their last three matches.
