Sophomore ranks 5th in NCAA
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Rice sophomore distance runner Grace Forbes broke both a meet and school record at Texas A&M's Charlie Thomas Invitational on Saturday, winning her season debut with a time of 15:50.38.
Forbes bested Becky Wade's previous school record of 16:03.13 (2012) and smashed the previous meet record (16:13.71) held by Texas A&M's Grace Fletcher (2014). The Wallingford, Pa. native's time of 15:50.38 ranks fifth in the NCAA this indoor season and will likely be good enough to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, which will be held Mar. 12-13 in Fayetteville, Ark.
Forbes has also already qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championship, which will take place Mar. 15 in Stillwater, Okla.
