Rice Earns Bye; to Face Middle Tennessee in C-USA Tournament

HOUSTON — The Rice Soccer team earned a bye and is the West Division second seed in next week's Conference USA Tournament, to be played in Boca Raton, Fla., Conference USA announced Friday morning.
The Owls (10-5-2) will face East third seed Middle Tennessee (9-7-1) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 10 a.m., on ESPN+. Rice defeated the Blue Raiders, 2-1, in double-overtime last week.
Rice is looking to win its second straight Conference USA championship and fourth overall. It also took home the crown in 2005 and 2014.
This is the third meeting between the two squads in the Conference USA Tournament, with the teams splitting the previous two meetings. Middle Tennessee defeated the Owls, 1-0, in the 2015 quarterfinals but Rice earned a 4-2 victory in the 2019 quarters.
Rice is 11-9-3 all-time in the Conference USA Tournament. The Owls are 7-4-1 in the tournament against the field.
