Delaney Schultz Named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week

HOUSTON — Rice Soccer midfielder Delaney Schultz was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Schultz scored the game-winning goal in overtime and added an assist in a 2-1 victory over C-USA foe UAB that propelled the Owls to the top of the C-USA West Division standings. She picked up an assist on Rice's first goal by flicking the ball over her head to Izzy McBride, who broke a scoreless tie in the final minute of the first half. In overtime, the junior midfielder from St. Louis, Missouri scored the game-winner in the second minute of extra time as she headed in a corner kick into the left corner of the net. It was her third three-point game of the season, and she is tied for first in C-USA with 21 points.
She becomes the third Owl to earn Player of the Week honors this year, joining Caleigh Boeckx (Defensive) and Bella Killgore (Goalkeeper), who earned the award on Aug. 24.
The Owls return to the pitch this Thursday, Oct. 14, when it travels to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face Southern Miss. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be streamed by CUSAtv.
