Fokam Named C-USA Female Field Athlete of the Week

DALLAS - Rice senior jumper Michelle Fokam was named the Conference USA Female Athlete of the Week following her stellar indoor season opener last week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Fokam recorded a victory in the triple jump at the Leonard Hilton Invitational, grabbing the seventh-best mark in the NCAA this season with a distance of 13.05m (42-09.75). In addition, Fokam was the top collegiate finisher in the long jump and second overall with a leap of 6.03m (19-09.50), which ranks 31st in the NCAA. The weekly C-USA honor is the fifth on Fokam's illustrious career.
The Owls will be back in competition Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the Houston Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston.
