DOHA, Qatar – Current volunteer coach and Rice track & field alum (2011) Ariana Ince placed 15th in the javelin at Monday's World Championships. Competing in Group A, Ince went into the meet seeded 23rd in the world and improved by eight spots. Ince previously placed 28th at the 2017 World Championships.
"Ariana continues to improve and her diligence is paying off," Rice women's T&F head coach Jim Bevan said. "She keeps chipping away and I'm so proud of her."
Earlier this summer, Ince earned a bronze medal in the javelin with a throw of 204 feet, 5 inches (62.32 meters) as she competed for the United States at the Pan American Games.
