HOUSTON - Fresh off one of the biggest wins in program history, the Rice Owls volleyball team returns to the court this Saturday, Sept. 21 when they host the TCU Horned Frogs at 2 p.m. from Tudor Fieldhouse in the final non-conference match of the season. The Owls enter play riding a wave of momentum after knocking off No. 3 Texas on Wednesday in front of a record-setting crowd at Tudor Fieldhouse. The victory was Rice's first in program history against Texas (1-37) and the Owls first win over a Top-10 ranked team.
Rice leads the all-time series 8-6 over TCU and the two teams will be meeting for the first time since Aug. 27, 2017 when the Horned Frogs won 3-0 during the week of Hurricane Harvey. TCU has dropped four of their past six matches, including a 3-0 defeat at SMU on Wednesday. The Horned Frogs are led offensively by freshman outside hitter Audrey Nalls, who has a team-leading 114 kills (3.56 per set).

- The Owls are receiving 21 votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll.
- Junior outside hitter Nicole Lennon was named the C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, her third consecutive weekly league honor. Earlier this season, Lennon became the 17th player in Rice history to eclipse 1,000 career kills. Lennon has three consecutive matches with 20 or more kills.
- Senior libero Lee Ann Cunningham ranks second in C-USA with 4.88 digs per set.
- Sophomore middle blocker Anota Adekunle ranks seventh in C-USA in hitting percentage (.378) while senior middle blocker Grace Morgan is ninth (.357).
- Coming off a season in which they swept the Conference USA regular season and tournament titles, the Owls were picked to defend their reign as champions according to the 2019 C-USA Preseason Poll.
- Rice placed three players on the 12-person Preseason All-Conference Team, Lennon, Grace Morgan and Anota Adekunle each earned a spot.
- Reigning C-USA Coach of the Year Genny Volpe is in her 16th season with the Owls and is the school's all-time leader in totals wins (296) and winning percentage (.623). She notched her eighth, 20-plus win season for the Owls in 2018.
