Golf Opens 2019-20 Campaign at Lone Star Invitational

HOUSTON — Rice golf opens the 2019-20 campaign this Monday-Tuesday, September 16-17, when it travels to San Antonio for the 11th annual Lone Star Invitational, hosted by UTSA. The tournament will be played at the par-72, 7,435-yard TPC San Antonio.

Thomas Bockholt III – No. 1 position … making his collegiate debut … native of Austin, Texas and a product of Westlake High School … averaged 75.89 strokes over nine rounds in the summer.
Rishi Kejriwal – No. 2 position … competed in seven tournaments last year … averaged 77.58 strokes per round last year … had a season-best tie for 48th-place at the Lone Star Intercollegiate … fired a season-best 70 in the first round of the Trinity Forest Invitational.
Jake Benson – No. 3 position … competed in 12 tournaments last year, leading the team with a 72.79 stroke average … had a team-high 15 rounds of par or better … had two top five, four top 10 and six top 20 finishes … earned his first career victory at the Conference USA Championship … participated in the NCAA Austin Regional … fired a career-best 67 in the second round of the Trinity Forest Intercollegiate tied for second-place at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic … tied for ninth-place at the Maridoe Intercollegiate and the All-American Intercollegiate … his 74.03 career stroke average is the fifth lowest in school history since 1991.

Campbell Gibson – No. 5 position … saw action in four tournaments last year, compiling a 75.64 stroke average … had one round of par or better … fired a career-low 70 in the first round of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic … had a season-best tie for 36th-place at the All-American Intercollegiate.
Harrison Hineline – Individual … participated in six tournaments last year, recording a 75.71 stroke average … had five rounds of par or better … recorded a season-best 68 in the final round of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, where he tied for fifth-place.
PAIRINGS
For Monday's first and second rounds, the Owls will tee off from holes No. 9 through No. 12 at 8:30 a.m. CT. Rice will compete in groups with student-athletes from Louisiana-Lafayette and McNeese State. Tuesday's tee times and pairings will depend on results after the first two rounds.
