Fokam Named C-USA Field Athlete of the Week

Junior ranks 10th in NCAA in long jump
DALLAS - Rice junior All-American jumper Michelle Fokam was selected the Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. Fokam earned her fourth career C-USA weekly honor after winning the long jump competition at the Houston Alumni Invitational last Saturday at the Carl Lewis International Complex.
The Katy, Texas native took over as the C-USA leader in the long jump with a leap of 6.35m (20-10.00), a mark which currently ranks 10th in the nation. The victory was Fokam's fifth in the long jump in her outdoor career.
The Owls are back in competition this weekend when they partake in the Texas A&M Invitational & Multis meet, April 12-13 in College Station. Rice will then host the annual J. Fred Duckett Twilight on Saturday, Apr. 20.
