Fokam Finishes 11th in Triple Jump at NCAA's

Earns USTFCCCA Second Team All-American honors
BIRMINGHAM, AL - For a second straight day, Rice junior jumper Michelle Fokam achieved USTFCCCA Second Team All-American status with an 11th place finish in the triple jump Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Championships at Birmingham CrossPlex.
After finishing 15th in the long jump on Friday, Fokam recorded a jump of 12.87m in the triple jump, sandwiched around a pair of fouls to finish 11th overall. Fokam concludes a stellar indoor campaign in which she won four total events, including her fifth career C-USA title (long jump).
"I'm proud of Michelle," Rice head coach Jim Bevan said. "She got here in two events, and has been nursing an injury for two months and continues to compete tough. I'm looking forward to her being able to become 100 percent healthy with a break from competition after indoors. She broke a school record this indoor season and gained national experience."
The Owls will next open the outdoor season split between the UH Cougar Spring Break Invitational (Mar. 14) and the TSU Relays (Mar. 15-16).
