For the third time in as many years Rice and Conference USA record holder Marie-Claire Schillinger is back competing at the NCAA Championships this Friday and Saturday (March 22-23) in Austin, Texas.
Schillinger's provisional qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.68) was accepted by the NCAA, but there is a bonus. By making the field in one event Schillinger can also participate in the 200-breaststroke where her NCAA Provisional time of time of 2:09.67 broke the her own school and conference record on the way to winning the league's individual title. The Orinda, Calif., native competed in the same events in each of the two previous NCAA meets. She is the nation's No. 25 seed in the 100 and No. 36 seed in the 200.
Similar to the event order of the C-USA Championships, the 100-breaststroke is on Friday followed by the 200 on Saturday. Results are available at the above link. Note that the online viewing options are free for morning prelims but a subscription service for evening finals.
