Seventh weekly league honor of season for junior
DALLAS – Rice junior outside hitter Nicole Lennon earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week accolades for a seventh time this season, the league office announced on Monday.
Lennon helped guide the No. 18 Owls (21-1, 10-0) to a pair of wins last weekend, extending the team's winning streak to 12 consecutive matches. The Katy, Texas native totaled 29 kills (4.83 kps) and hit .361 over six sets. In addition, Lennon collected double-figure digs in each match for her 13th and 14th double-doubles of the season.
Lennon began the weekend with 18 kills and 17 digs in a 3-0 victory at Charlotte, hitting .333 for the match. She backed up that performance with 11 more kills and 13 digs with a .400 hitting clip at UAB.
Lennon currently ranks sixth in the NCAA in kills per set (5.03) and is ninth in points per set (5.37).
The Owls are back home this weekend for their final homestand of the regular season, hosting Florida Atlantic on Friday, Nov. 8 (6 p.m.) and No. 23 WKU on Senior Day on Sunday, Nov. 10 (1 p.m.).
