
Trio of Owls Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

Cunningham, Lennon, and Woogk recognized
DALLAS - The Rice Owls volleyball team placed a league-high three student-athletes on the Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Tuesday. Senior libero Lee Ann Cunningham, junior outside hitter Nicole Lennon, and senior right side hitter Tori Woogk all received league recognition for both their athletic and academic achievements.
Cunningham is a repeat selection while Lennon and Woogk both made their first appearance on the All-Academic Team.
Cunningham is a triple major (Political Science/Spanish & Portuguese/Policy Studies) and boasts a 3.75 GPA. The Louisville, Ky. native was one of 30 Senior CLASS nominees in the nation earlier this year and ranks fifth among all C-USA players in digs per set (4.68) and is sixth in total digs (398). Earlier this season Cunningham became just the second Owl in school history to surpass 2,000 career digs.
Lennon, the C-USA Preseason Player of the Year, is a double major (Economics/Psychology) with a 3.61 GPA. Lennon established a league record with seven C-USA Offensive Player of the Week awards. Lennon ranks eighth in the NCAA in kills per set (4.89-1st in C-USA) and 13th in points per set (5.26-1st in C-USA).
Woogk, from Fort Worth, Texas, is a Sport Management major with a 3.95 GPA. The senior has played in 69 sets and is sixth on the team with 93 kills and has been named to the C-USA Academic Honor Roll and the Rice University President's Honor Roll.
The No. 2 seed Owls begin the C-USA Tournament on Friday, November 22 at 5 p.m. when they take on No. 7 seed UTEP.
