Golf Closes Fall with Eighth-Place Finish at Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

Loxley, Ala. — Rice closed with rounds of 294-292 to finish the fall season 20-over par in eighth-place at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, hosted by South Alabama and played at the par-72, 7,096-yard Steelwood Country Club.
Nick Duggan carded rounds of 75-72 to finish three-over par in a season-best tie for 19th-place. It is his first top-20 finish of the year and the sixth of his career. The 72 is also his fourth round of par or better this year and 24th of his career.
Junior Jake Benson and freshman Thomas Bockholt III tied for 29th-place at five-over par. Benson posted rounds of 76-72 while Bockholt III closed with a 71-77. The 72 was Benson's eighth round of par or better this year and 31st of his career while the 71 was Bockholt's first career round of par or better.
Junior Rishi Kejriwal tied a season-best with a second round 70 before closing with a 78 to tie for 42nd-place at eight-over par. The 70 was Kejriwal's third round of par or better this year and 10th of his career.
Sophomore Harrison Hineline tied for 50th-place at nine-over par after finishing with a pair of 73's while sophomore Campbell Gibson carded rounds of 77-75 to finish in tie for 61st-place at 13-over par.
Mississippi State won the tournament at 19-under par, 14 strokes in front of No. 38 Arkansas State. MSU's Ford Clegg earned medalist honors at 10-under par, one stroke in front of teammate Garrett Johnson.
