Women’s T&F Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

Jackson picks up individual accolades
NEW ORLEANS – The Rice University women's track and field team was honored for its academic success on Thursday (July 26), as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named the Owls an All-Academic Team.
A team is required to maintain a 3.0 GPA or better to earn the distinction and the Owls met the criteria with a 3.51 GPA under head coach Jim Bevan. In addition to the team award, sophomore Hannah Jackson earned individual accolades while posting a 3.63 GPA (Bio Engineering).
To qualify individually, the student-athlete must have a compiled GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following academic standards:
*For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finishes the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
*For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
Jackson, from Sulphur, La., was named the C-USA Track Performer of the Meet and competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championships (200m) concluding a stellar sophomore campaign. In addition to winning her first career C-USA outdoor title in the 100m dash, she also placed second in the 200m dash.
