
Owls Excel at Arkansas Twilight, Tom Tellez

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - In the team's final performance before next week's Conference USA Championships, the Rice Owls women's T&F team shined bright between appearances at the Arkansas Twilight and Tom Tellez Invitational.
Rice had four individual victories in Arkansas, including a pair from sophomore jumper Michelle Fokam, and several season-bests.
Fokam won both the long jump (6.14m/20-01.75) and the triple jump (12.71m/41-08.5), her sixth and seventh individual victories of the outdoor season.
Hannah Jackson won her fifth event of the outdoor campaign with a time of 23.31 in the 200m, along with a fourth place finish of 11.57 in the 100m.
The Owls dominated the 1500m event, led by a winning season-best performance from Elsa Racasan (4:28.95). Sarah Ivackovic (2nd-4:36.11) and Mary Claire Neal (4th-4:36.70) also set season-best times in the event.
Khayla Patel was the top collegiate finisher, second overall, in the 3000m with a mark of 9:54.61 while freshman Lourdes Vivas de Lorenzi placed right behind with a season-best time of 9:55.59.
Ayane Rossano finished as the top collegiate vaulter (3.74m) while Kylie Swiekatowski (3.74m) placed sixth in the same event, setting a new season-best. The Owls also got a personal best performance from Hannah Bablak (2:14.50) in the 800m.
Across town, Dheryl Batts set a new personal record of 51.10m (167-08) to place second overall in the hammer throw while Amanda Pasko was the top collegiate finisher in the javelin.
The Owls will now gear up to host the C-USA Championships, which will begin Thursday, May 10.
