HOUSTON - Rice sophomore sprinter Hannah Jackson established a season-best time of 22.97 (w3.6) to win the 200-meter dash at Saturday's Houston Alumni Invitational. Under less than ideal weather conditions, the Sulphur, Louisiana native topped her previous personal best mark of 23.14 set last season with the seventh-best time in the nation on Saturday.
In addition, Jackson placed second overall in the 100-meter dash with a finish of 11.48. Jackson also ran the anchor leg of the 4x100 relay team that finished fourth (47.69).
Other highlights from the Owls included a sixth place finish (12.54m/41-01.75) from Dheryl Batts in the shot put and seventh place finishes from Camille Little (high jump/5.61m) and Mary Claire Neal (1500m/4:47.75).
The Owls will partake in the Bearkat Invitational next weekend, hosted by Sam Houston State on April 14.
