Fokam Earns C-USA Athlete of the Week Honors

IRVING, Texas - Rice sophomore jumper Michelle Fokam was tabbed the Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday (4/24) afternoon.
The Katy, Texas native had a huge weekend for the Owls at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight, winning both the triple jump and long jump with new personal records.
This year's C-USA Indoor champion in both the triple jump and long jump, Fokam climbed to 14th in the nation (first in C-USA) with a leap of 6.33m (20-09.25) in the long jump before winning the triple jump with a PR of 13.12m (43-00.5). Fokam currently ranks 15th in the nation in the triple jump and first in C-USA.
The women's track & field team is off this weekend and will resume action May 4-5, split between the Tom Tellez Invitational (University of Houston) and the Arkansas Twilight. Rice will host the C-USA Outdoor Championships, which will take place May 10-13.
