Women's T&F Wins Six Events at Duckett

HOUSTON - With just three weeks remaining before hosting the Conference USA Outdoor Championships, the Rice Owls women's T&F team made a staement on Saturday by winning six individual events and placing eight athletes in the top three.
Sophomores Michelle Fokam (jumps) and Hannah Jackson (sprints) each recorded a pair of victories on Saturday. Fokam set a huge PR while winning the triple jump with a mark of 13.12m (43-00.50), and moved to 10th in the nation and fifth in the NCAA West region. Earlier in the day, Fokam also won the long jump with another PR, recording a jump of 6.33m (20-09.25) to move into fourth in the NCAA West.
Jackson was victorious in both the 100m dash (11.66) and the 200m dash (23.19), the third and fourth victories of her outdoor season.
Also recording an individual victory was senior Jaylon Wesley in the pole vault. The Dallas native set a new PR of 3.83m (12-06.75) to win the first event of her career.
Competing in her first 1500m race of the outdoor season, Elsa Racasan moved into the top 10 of C-USA by winning the event with a time of 4:39.44.
Other Owls placing in the top three on Saturday were Hannah Bablak (800m; 2:15.14, SB) and Sara Ivackovic (1500m; 4:41.14, SB).
Rice will split competition May 4-5 at the Tom Tellez Invitational and Oxy Invitational before hosting the C-USA Championships, May 10-13.
