
Fokam Sets New PR in Long Jump

SAN ANTONIO - Rice sophomore jumper Michelle Fokam placed third in the high jump to lead a small contingent of Owl competitors at Friday's UIW Invitational.
Fokam recorded a personal best distance of 6.03m (19-09.50) on her first attempt, a mark that ranks third in Conference USA and 34th in the NCAA West.
The Owls also had three competitors in the pole vault, led by Ayane Rossano's clearance of 3.80m (12-05.50) to place fourth among collegiate competitors. Finishing behind Rossano was Kylie Swiekatowski (3.65m) and Jaylon Wesley (3.65m).
The Owls will next gear up for the J. Fred Duckett Twilight, which they will host on Saturday, Apr. 21 at Wendel D. Ley Track.
