Soccer Lands Six New Owls

HOUSTON -- Rice University head soccer coach Nicky Adams, the 2017 Conference USA Coach of the Year, announced the signing of six new Owls to join the program on Wednesday (Feb. 7, the first national day to sign with the sport).
Adams' seventh recruiting class boasts some of the top student-athletes from across North America who join Rice from some of the country's elite club programs. The class includes forward Caleigh Boeckx (Calgary, Alberta, Canada); midfielders Madison Kent (Sugar Land, Texas) and Delaney Schultz (Saint Louis, Missouri); defenders Paris Fox (Saratoga, Calif.) and Ziyana Samanani (Calgary, Alberta, Canada); and goalkeeper Bella Killgore (Houston, Texas).
The talented new players could play a major role in the upcoming 2018 season. Coach Adams stated the group is also in-line with Rice's challenging academic curriculum.
"I am thrilled to announce the 2018 Rice Soccer Signees," said coach Adams. "This is an incredible group of young ladies and we are so happy that they will continue their athletic and academic careers at Rice. This is a very strong class that will help us in multiple positions all over the field. We cannot wait for them to get here in August!"
Under the direction of coach Adams the Rice soccer program won the 2017 Conference USA regular season championship, earned a national ranking, and received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament last season. In her career, coach Adams has led the Owls to two conference championships and two NCAA Tournament berths while also tying the school record for wins in a single season. The 2018 signing class is Adams' seventh at the helm of the program.
