Owls Fin Four Events Friday At Dual-A-Pool-Ooza
Therien swam a season-best 10:27.30 to lead a 1-2 Rice finish with Sarah Nowaski (10:31.13) in the 100-yard freestyle. Later in the meet it was Huston and Nowaski placing in the 500-free with times of 5:07.68 and 5:08.34, respectively. True freshman Marta Cano-Minarro posted a Rice-best 51.95 to lead a 1-2 Owl finish in the 100-free with Lindsay Mathys (52.49). Sophomore Ellery Parish continued her winning ways. The reigning C-USA Swimmer of the Week honoree won the 200-backstroke over a field of 13 other competitors with a steady 2:03.67.
Rice's opening night was sound and solid, but there are still two more full dual meets remaining on Saturday's schedule. Rice next faces event host Denver at 11 a.m. Central Time. The Blue & Gray then go head-to-head with defending C-USA champion FIU on Saturday at 4 pm (Central). A full list of Friday's results are available at the above pdf link.
