
Waite Chosen for World Championships

LONDON - British Athletics announced on Tuesday (7/25/17) the addition of five athletes to its team for next month's IAAF World Championships in London, which includes current Rice volunteer coach and Olympian Lennie Waite.
Waite, who competed at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, will be joined in London by Rice women's track & field head coach Jim Bevan and will compete in the 3000m steeplechase beginning on Aug. 9 at 1:05 p.m. (CT).
Waite qualified for the World Championships with a season-best time of 9:37.94 in the 3000m steeplechase back on July 11 in the Goteborg Grand Prix in Sweden, reaching the automatic qualifying time.
