Golf Travels to San Antonio for Lone Star Invitational

HOUSTON — Rice will travel to San Antonio this Sunday-Monday, Mar. 20-21, for the Lone Star Invitational. The tournament will be played at the par-72, 7,247-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
"We had a good week of down time for spring break," said head coach Justin Emil. "The guys are fresh and ready to go for our final spring season stretch, beginning with this week's Lone Star Invitational."
Rice will be joined by eight teams in the Golfstat top 100, including No. 7 Illinois, No. 15 Oklahoma, No. 48 New Mexico, No. 59 Texas State, No. 75 Mississippi State, No. 87 McNeese State, No. 90 Cincinnati and No. 100 UTSA.
Also in the field is Bowling Green, Little Rock, Louisiana-Lafayette, New Mexico State, Southeastern Louisiana and Texas State.
Junior Mario Carmona leads the Owls in the No. 1 position. The Houston, Texas native leads the squad with a 71.85 stroke average. He has recorded one top five and three top ten finishes while leading the squad with 11 rounds of par or better.
In the No. 2 position is freshman Trevor Brown. The Austin, Texas native is second on the team with a 72.65 stroke average and has nine rounds of par or better.
Senior Kevin Reilly and freshman Nicholas Duggan will tee off in the third and fourth positions, respectively. Reilly is averaging 74.63 strokes per round while Duggan is averaging 75.47.
Sophomore Grant Rogers will tee off in the No. 5 position. Rogers is averaging 76.13 strokes per round through eight rounds this season.
Play begins at 8:30 a.m. CT on Monday with a shotgun start. Fans can follow all the action at golfstat.com.
