
Ince Places Eighth in Javelin at Olympic Trials

EUGENE, OR - Former Rice Owl Ariana Ince battled a strong crosswind to place eighth overall in the finals of the javelin at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials Saturday afternoon at Hayward Field.
Ince, a 2011 Rice graduate from Gonzales, Texas, advanced to the final eight competitors on Saturday with a throw of 50.82m (166-9). Her best mark came on her final attempt, uncorking a throw of 51.42m (168-8). She also had three fouls and a heave of 50.39m (165-4), falling short of the Olympic standard of 62.00m.
Ince had qualified for Saturday's finals by finishing fifth (55.80m).
