BIRMINGHAM, England - Former Rice Owl Lennie Waite will get her opportunity to earn a trip to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil this Sunday when she'll compete in the 3000m steeplechase at the British Championships in Birmingham.
Waite's race will take place at approximately 8:46 a.m. (CT) with the Scotland native needing to finish either first or second in the event to clinch a berth to Rio. She will be among nine
Earlier this summer at Portland, Waite breezed past the Olympic qualifying time (9:45.00) with a lifetime-best mark of 9:35.91, the fifth-fastest time ever by a Briton.
The 2016 British Championships will be broadcast live Friday through Sunday via various BBC outlets.
