EUGENE, OR - Rice junior triple jumper Daisy Ding placed 22nd in the triple jump at Saturday's NCAA Outdoor Championships to earn USTFCCCA All-American Honorable Mention accolades.
Ding, from Sydney, Australia, jumped 12.46m (40'10.5") on her first attempt, followed by a mark of 12.34m and a foul. Ding was making her second appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in as many years, after earning First-Team All-American honors in 2015.
It was still a banner season for Ding, who won her third career C-USA triple jump title during the outdoor season.
"Daisy didn't have the best day today, but I'm glad she's a junior," Rice women's track and field head coach Jim Bevan said. "She has had a great year and was ahead of All-American sophomore year at every juncture, so we were hoping for big things. We will learn our lessons and move forward to next year."
