Rice juniors Tommy Bennett and David Warren will make their NCAA Men's Tennis Doubles Championship debut on Thursday when they face Tennessee's Jack Schipanski and Luis Valero at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bennett and Warren moved into the national top 30 and became the Owls first NCAA men's doubles qualifiers since 2008 thanks to a torrid finish to the season. They were 7-2 in 13 matches and closed with wins in their last six decisions.
They vaulted into the rankings after consecutive wins over teams ranked 41st, 24th and 17th in the Oracle/ITA tabulations and head into NCAA action ranked 29th.
They are the Owls first doubles qualifiers since Ralph Knupfer and Christoph Mueller earned a slot in 2008.
Schipanski and Valero were 12-7 this season and come into NCAA action ranked 20th.
