The eighth-ranked Oklahoma State women's tennis team rode a blistering start in doubles and a strong performance on the back three courts in singles to post a 4-0 win over 64th ranked Rice at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Friday night.
OSU swept to the doubles point with 6-1 wins on courts two and three and then clinched the match with straight-set singles wins on courts four, five and six to improve to 11-2 on the season.
Katherine Ip and Lindsey Hodge both fared well in matches against ranked opponents, each winning their first sets by 6-4 margins before their matches were abandoned after OSU clinched the match.
Ip held a 3-2 lead in the second set against OSU's Kelsey Laurente, who entered the match ranked 80th in the country, while Hodge was tied 2-2 in her second set against 77th ranked Katarina Adamovic.
The Owls will wrap up their weekend Oklahoma swing on Sunday when the take on former C-USA foe Tulsa on Sunday. They return home to host Memphis on March 15.
