IRVING, Texas - Rice sophomore jumper Daisy Ding was tabbed the Conference USA Female Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, the league office announced.

Ding set a PR and won the first high jump competition of her career with a winning leap of 1.77m (5-09.75) at Friday's TSU Relays. A native of Sydney, Australia, Ding's jump was good enough for a tie for seventh-best in the nation thus far.

Ding was coming off a victory in the triple jump at the C-USA Indoor Championships. Tuesday's award was the first C-USA Athlete of the Week Award of Ding's career. The women's track and field squad will be competing at the Texas Relays in Austin this week, March 25-28.
