Owls Drop 6-1 Decision to Texas
2/8/2015 12:00:00 AM | Men's Tennis
The ninth-ranked Texas men's tennis team raced to a 6-1 win over Rice in a dual match played indoors in Austin on Sunday.
Rice's Adam Gustafsson rebounded from a tiebreak loss in the second set to take a deciding set tiebreaker 10-5 and complete an unbeaten weekend of action. The junior from Jonkoping, Sweden was 2-0 in singles and doubles over the weekend, with two other matches unfinished.
After dropping the doubles point, Texas race to a quick 3-0 lead, but the Owls proved less willing to surrender the clinching fourth point. It took a pair of tie-breaker wins to push the Longhorns over the top and improve to 7-0 on the season. Rice fell to 5-5.
The Owls will be back on the road next weekend, facing LSU in a dual on Sunday in Baton Rouge with first serves set for noon.
