Katherine Ip led a clean sweep in singles to highlight the action for the Rice women's tennis team on Day Two or the 2015 Kitty Harrison Invitational at Duke University's Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday.
After splitting a pair of doubles matches with South Carolina along with a win over LSU to start the morning, the Owls put together a dominant effort in singles vs. Penn State, winning all six matches, five of them in straight sets.
"We really competed well as a team today," Rice head coach Elizabeth Schmidt said. "It was nice to see a lot of can-do attitudes and solid play across the board. Looking forward to tomorrow's matches providing us another great opportunity to grow."
Action will concluded on Sunday with a final round of singles. Rice will face off against Virginia on Sunday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
