Rice sophomore Lindsey Hodge, who opened her fall campaign by winning seven of her eight singles matches, has been named the Conference USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Month.
Hodge, from Roswell, Georgia, posted a 7-1 mark in singles, including a 5-0 run to capture the Women's Singles title at the Midland Invitational. She became the first Owl to capture the Midland title since Natalie Beazant in 2012 by winning 10 of 12 sets, including a victory over No. 94 Sarah Dvorak of Texas Tech.
She followed that up by reaching the semifinals of the Rice Invite, where she blew through the first two rounds before falling in three sets to No. 42 Despoina Vogasari of Houston.
She also combined with Alison Ho to post a 3-1 mark in doubles.
Hodge and Ho will be back in action on Wednesday in the doubles consolation round of the 2015 Riviera/ITA Women's All American Championships in Pacific Palisades, California.
