The Rice Owls women's track and field team took a small group of athletes to the Texas Invite and just a handful of competitors to the UTEP Invite on Saturday afternoon but still came away with some positive results.
Sophomore vaulter McKenzie Johnson tied her season-best vault of 4.10m to win her third outdoor event in four meets this year. That mark is good enough for tops in Conference USA and 22nd in the nation.
Freshman Daisy Ding won her second triple jump event of the year with a 12.13m leap in Austin.
Rice will send split squads next weekend to both the Mt. Sac Relays and the Kansas Invite.
