
Lennie Waite Finishes Third At British Championships

BIRMINGHAM, England- Former Rice women's track athlete Lennie Waite finished third at the British Championships in the 3000 m steeplechase, running a 10:04.97. She, and two of her fellow Scots, gave Scotland a 1-2-3 finish in the event.
Waite was winning the event at the 1000 m and 2000 m mark, before slipping to a bronze medal finish.
Waite is the third women's track alumna to take home a top three national finish this summer. Rice volunteer coach Funmi Jimoh finished third at the US Track Championship in the long jump, and Ariana Ince finished second at the same competition in the javelin.
