Seven Football Games Confirmed for Television

2011 Rice Football Schedule
A minimum of seven of Rice's 12 regular-season football games, including four of five home contests, have been selected by Conference USA broadcast partners to be televised nationally during the 2011 football season. The initial television schedule was released by the conference office on Tuesday.
Rice will appear at least once on each of the conference's three broadcast partners.
The Owls' home opener with Purdue on September 10 will kick off at 2:30 (central) and be carried nationally by CBS Sports Network. The Owls will then make back-to-back appearances on Comcast Sports Southwest for games at Southern Miss on October 1 and vs. Memphis at Rice Stadium on October. 8.
They will appear on Fox Sports Network four times, vs. Tulsa as part of Families Weekend on October 22 and for the Owls Homecoming contest with UTEP on November 5. Rice's battle with Houston for the Bayou Bucket on October 27 at Robertson Stadium is set for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff, while the regular-season finale at SMU will wrap up Rice's current slate of televised games on November 26.
Additional broadcast plans in addition to kickoff times for those games currently committed will be released at a later date.
The Owls will open preparations for the 2011 season on Friday, August 5 when the squad members report for the start of fall camp. Season tickets are currently on sale for the 2011 season at the Rice Athletic Ticket Office (713) 522-OWLS.
Conference USA Football on FOX Sports Networks
The 2011 football season marks the beginning of a new long-term agreement between Conference USA and Fox Sports Media Group for national television rights to a variety of marquee Conference USA events, including a minimum of 20 regular-season football games. Through two dozen owned and affiliated networks, FOX Sports Networks (FSN) programming reaches more than 85 million homes across the country. Conference USA joins Fox's impressive roster of other conference partners that includes the Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, ACC, and SEC.

CBS Sports Network is the original 24-hour sports channel dedicated to covering college sports. Available to 95 million homes nationwide, CBS Sports Network provides comprehensive college sports coverage, including 25 men's and women's sports, hundreds of live games annually, as well as in-depth studio and original programming.
