Eugene, Ore. - Ex-Owl track star and current Rice track and field volunteer assistant coach Funmi Jimoh placed third in the women's long jump at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championship held at Oregon's historic Hayward Field. Jimoh's first attempt produced a mark of 6.88m/22-7. That mark was good enough to place third and provide Jimoh an opportunity to once again don the USA jersey. The top three places earn a trip to the IAAF World Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Daegu, South Korea (Aug. 27-Sept. 4). She previously represented the United States in the long jump at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
