Owls Open California Swing with 5-2 Win

Rice's 34th ranked men's tennis team opened their spring break California trip by downing #54 San Diego State, 5-2 at the Aztec Tennis Center on Monday.
The Owls opened the match by grabbing the doubles point, thanks to wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Oscar Podlewski, Christian Saravia and Peter Frank then followed with straight-set wins in singles to improve Rice's season record to 9-3 and send the Aztecs (1-8) to their eighth consecutive dual match defeat.
The Owls will back on the courts on Wednesday when they face the University of San Diego and then participate in the 122nd annual West Coast Doubles Championship over the weekend.
They return home to face Conference USA foe Memphis on March 8 at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium at 1:30.
