The 48th ranked Rice Owls men's tennis team opened a busy two-day schedule of matches by getting back on the winning track with a 7-0 blanking of Louisiana-Lafayette at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium on Friday afternoon.
The Owls, who lost at LSU on Sunday, did not drop a match and lost just one set on the day. They won all three doubles matches to pick up the first point of the day, and then captured five of six singles matches in straight sets. Peter Frank lost the first set at No. 2 to Yanick Mandl, but came back to take the second, 7-5 and then closed out the day's action with a 10-3 win in the shortened third set.
Rice will be back in action on Saturday, hosting a pair of matches. Texas-San Antonio will open the day' schedule with an 11 a.m. contest, followed by Abilene Christian at 3 pm
